Merrymeade House, a charming Grade II listed property in Brentwood, Essex, dates back to the early 20th century. Nestled within the scenic surroundings of Merrymeade Country Park, the site is home to a mix of commercial tenants, including a family-run tea room, a popular wedding venue, and private office space.
In 2025, RMC was appointed to modernise the property’s outdated CCTV system. The client’s main requirement was clear: no visible changes to the exterior of the building – meaning no external conduit or surface-mounted cabling.
Working within this constraint, RMC utilised the building’s existing analogue cabling infrastructure to install a hybrid surveillance solution. Collaborating with manufacturers Uniview and suppliers CCTV Direct, we deployed a mix of 13 new analogue cameras and several strategically placed IP cameras to expand coverage.
To futureproof the system, hybrid analogue NVRs were installed, enabling a smooth transition to full IP-based surveillance over time, should the client wish to upgrade further. The new system is directly integrated with the site’s intruder alarm and linked to our 24/7 CCTV Control Room – allowing instant alerts and real-time response from our operators when a threat is detected.
This project showcases RMC’s ability to deliver heritage-sensitive CCTV installations that meet modern security standards while respecting architectural integrity.
